FUNletter: Book giveaway, new autism essays, and more!
Funletter? Yes, because I'm packing it with things I find fun, and hope you will too. As an autistic, what I find fun is drastically different. AND THAT'S OK. I'm here to reclaim fun.
1. I published new autism essays!
2. I released a new series called Carrying the Horrific
If you’re a fan of investigative journalism or true crime, this will be up your ally. I unravel the mystery of coming across a deceased man 16 years ago. It’s not for the faint of heart and contains violence, death, and graphic descriptions. I released Part 1 and Part 2 this week. Parts 3 and 4 will be released in the coming weeks.
3. I scanned all of the art I made at my artist residency in Guatemala.
I’m trying to be a better steward of my art, and that means keeping track of all of it! I scanned over 200 art pieces I made. Here are some of the scanned images:
4. I created a space in my studio to hold current projects
Again… trying to take better care of my art! I also feel I’m far more likely to pick up an art project when I see it daily. The holder from my art is a 100+ year-old wooden pie rack that I found at a local antique store. I’m trying to buy as many things used as possible. Here’s a pic, even though I’m still in the middle of decorating my little corner:
5. I snuck Egon into my studio (don’t tell)
Sadly, dogs are not welcome in my office building for fear that they will make noise. On Sundays, I’m the only there, so I snuck Egon in with me.
6. I started framing some of my art!
I hope you appreciate that I haven’t finished painting the wall. Haha.
7. I ordered some new books
I do my best to get them from eBay or other second hand places (I’m trying to slowly distance myself from Amazon… which is hard!). Here’s the one I’m currently waiting on. If you’ve read it, I’d be interested to know what you thought!
8. I’m loving being a therapist!
I’m deeply enjoying working with my clients. I’m ridiculously grateful to do what I do. I haven’t always been able to say that (you can read about that here), so I’m saying it boldly now!
If you’re looking for an autistic therapist to either help you figure out if you’re autistic or help you learn how to work with your autistic brain, I’d love to work together. You can see my availability and schedule a meeting here.
9. I’m doing a book giveaway!
I’d like to spread a little joy, so I’m snail mailing out 6 free copies of my illustrated book Dunkel the Vegetarian Dino. It’s a funny, short story about a baby dino who rebels and decides to not eat meat. If you’d like a copy, send me an email. I’ll mail books to the first six people who respond.
Egon is a beautiful dog.
