FUNletter: 9 Fun Things
Funletter? Yes, because I'm packing it with things I find fun, and hope you will too. As an autistic, what I find fun is drastically different. AND THAT'S OK. I'm here to reclaim fun.
1. I reflected on why I love being an autistic therapist:
You can read about it in my essay: The unexpected benefits of being a therapist who specializes in autism
2. I got an easel!
As much as I love sitting on the floor and painting, sometimes I want my painting to be vertical. I got the Carolina easel and highly recommend it. It’s sturdy and doesn’t take up too much space.
3. I wrote about suicidal ideation, which is very common for autistics
You can read my essay The realities of suicidal ideation and autism
4. My plant bloomed!
Isn’t it divinely alien?! My friend found it at Trader Joe’s and gave it to me.
5. I wrote about my experience at 4 artist residencies last year
You can read my essay The Great Unknown of Artist Residencies
6. Egon went for his first annual dental cleaning
They did a wonderful job … but Egon wouldn’t stop licking the anasthesia site, so now he has to wear a donut until it heals
7. I reflected on why our understanding of autism is changing rapidly
You can read the seven reasons I came up with here.
8. I continued sharing my ebook For the Autistic Soul Going Through Tough Times
You can download it here.
9. I worked on a self-portrait that captures what autism is like for me
It’s still a work in progress
If you’ve been looking for a therapist who gets what it’s like to be autistic, I’m with you.
I use art therapy to get you through times … and into fun times. My goal is to get you feeling better, and more creative! I work with clients from all over the world. You can learn more here.
